ROB0050 power supply from 3S Lipo battery

Hi again,
I want to power the miniQ 4WD with a Turnigy 3S1P / 11.1v / 3Cell 1300mAh battery because I have added a 2.4 GHz camera with a servo payload for remote monitoring.
Now having a look at the schematics the OCP3601 is a switching regulator with nominal input voltage, however on the schematics provided the Vin must be in the 3.6 - 6 V range.
The OCP3601 is able to regulate until a maximum of 15 V, however I'm not sure if the conditioning circuit will blow up if I connect the 11.1 V battery.
If that is not possible, I will resort to a voltage regulator to step down the Lipo to a safe 5V and then feed it to the power cable.

I asked, any DFRobot robotic platform can participate. Just submit what you have before the deadline, not too many people have started participating, you might win by default ;)

2011-12-22 02:19:39 Ups I saw that, well the only electronic device that my wife will allow me to touch during xmas is the light controller, I doubt will make any in time for that.  :-X
Thanks though for the advice.

Are you aware of our: Christmas competition ?

I'm not sure if the 4WD MiniQ qualifies for the competition(I will ask), but still check it out, see if your interested. Their is plenty of time to get the right gear.

Happy Hacking

2011-12-21 05:53:43 Hello,
oky thanks for the clarification.
I could even use a 7.4 V lipo 2S with perhaps a protection diode to bring it to a safe level.
I will post my progress and hopefully I will not blow up anything.
That's my little xmas project.
:-p

2011-12-21 01:12:31 Hi Robomotic,

Sorry the Max voltage is 7Vdc. If you supply anything over that you risk damage. So I would recommend the voltage regulator route.

Cheers
