Questions about the DFRobot Hexapod servos

Hi guys,
maybe you've seen me before, asking some questions about the Hexapod kit. I am here again because I recently encountered some new problems with it. These problem concern the servo.
1) The first one concerns their initial position. I was wondering if there is a way to know the initial position of one of the CDS Servos, because one of them is currently behaving in a weird way. I attached a video when you can see a test I did, which is to ask the outer servos to go to their walking position. As you can see in the video, the three ones of the left side went correctly, but the one of the right back leg went in a false position. So I want to check its initial position to correct it, but I don't know how to do it. Any idea ?
2) The second one is a hardware problem concerning the inner servo, which can't rotate freely. I tried the same test as before with these servos, and only the right front one managed to move, the others just stayed in the same position. Is it a problem related to the screws ?

It is not necessary to have the DFRobot one. Of course you can get another one, it is just a board that change USB to serial is OK ;)

2013-07-06 11:03:18 About this board, is it necessary to have the DFRobot one (http://www.robotshop.com/eu/productinfo.aspx?pc=RB-Dfr-74&lang=fr-CA) or can I use another one from another society ?

I think you can't connect the servo driver board (or the servo) directly to the PC without the FTDI board. You must have a board that change the USB to serial.

2013-07-05 08:03:36 Is it really possible to connect the servo driver board (or the servo) directly to the PC ? Because if I am not wrong, the serial port has three wires (GND, TX and RX) while the USB one has four (the same as before plus the 5V).
Do I need a specific cable to connect them together ? If possible, I would like to avoid having to buy another board (like the FTDI one you told me about)

Both ways can reset the servo. But ifyou want to connect the servo directly to the PC, you should using an FTDI board , it is possible to use the servo controller directly from your PC. Or use the arduino to reset the servo.

2013-06-29 00:01:48 The problem is that the documentation only shows how to connect the servo using the debugger. It doesn't say if we have to connect the servo to the Arduino, then the Arduino to the PC or the servo directly to the PC.
Servo <-> Arduino <-> PC / Servo <-> PC
So I wanted to know which one is the right way of doing it, to buy the right cable.

I think you needn't buy the debugger board. Maybe you can check the following doc.Hope it is useful to you ;)

2013-06-27 01:32:47 Hi,
thanks for your answer.
About the first point, I read the Servo Quick Start and I was wondering if I need also to buy a debugger, because it is said that I have to connect the servo to a debugger, then the debugger to the PC. Is it correct ? Can't I just connect the servo to the computer with a USB <-> UART cable or the servo to the arduino, then the Arduino to the PC ?

1?You can reset the servo with UART via PC . Please check the manual in Page 10 of the PDF.

2?Did you check weather the wire is connected correctly? What you mean "problem related to the screws"?
Can you give more details?
Phoebe
