Questions and Concerns Regarding Baron and Pirate Platforms

Hi,

I am planning to build a wireless controlled robot using a gui on a PC (user's station). The robot should be able to take pictures (we need to use a camera), it also has both temperature and smoke sensors along with the ultrasonic sensors to avoid collision. And since it is a wireless controlled robot, we will need a wireless module mounted on the platform as well. Our microcontroller is Arduino Mega 2560.

As far as the robot platform goes, I have narrowed my choices to use either Baron-4WD Mobile Platform (ROB0025) or Pirate-4WD Mobile Platform (ROB0003); I think these two should be able to handle the weights of the components mentioned above along with the batteries as I have seen in some other videos (please correct if I am wrong). Based on the motors specs I read for both platforms, it seems that Pirate's motors are more powerful than the Baron's, is that right? I actually need to have encoders for speed measurements. I was wondering if the Wheel Encoders for DFRobot 3PA and 4WD Rovers (SEN0038) can be used with the Pirate's motors.

I will post more questions following the response.

Thanks in advance!
