Getting your Bluno Beetle to work in Windows 8.1

Note: The procedure is very similar for Windows 10. The main difference is the location of the Search icon.
Go to the Arduino website and download the latest version of the Arduino IDE and install the software on your machine.
From the Windows 8.1 Start menu screen, click on the Search icon in the upper right hand corner and type in 'Device Manager'. No need to press 'Enter', just wait a second.
Click on the Device Manager that appears at the top of the list.
Plug in your Bluno Beetle using a USB cable. Device Manager should respond very quickly and show the Bluno Beetle under a heading of 'Other Devices' as an 'Unknown device'.
Right click on the Unknown device, select 'Properties' and the 'Update Driver' button.
Windows will give you a choice of selecting a local folder on your machine or Search the Internet for a driver. Pick the first option and select the folder where you installed the Arduino IDE, in my case that was C:\Arduino.
After a brief interval Windows will install a driver for the Arduino Uno board and under the 'Ports' heading you will see 'Arduino Uno (COM X) where X is the COM port number.
Now you can start the Arduino IDE. Under 'Tools' select 'Arduino Uno' as the board and for the Port select the COM port number you saw in Device Manager.
