Single Board Media Centers

I've been playing with OSMC and OpenElec this weekend on a Raspberry Pi 2. Both are based around XBMC (now known as Kodi) and pack some pretty impressive features considering the footprint of the board. I'm still working on integrating a few features. So far I've managed:

- Serving all my external drives over LAN (removing all wiring from my laptop!)
- Media library
- iPhone as a remote (using Kodi Remote)

Some elements I'd like to integrate (under a single OS):

- Retro console emulation (pretty sure it's possible, just haven't had the time to work it out)
- Always-on bittorrent service accessible through a webUI (preferably with uTorrent)

I'm going to start experimenting with a BananaPi too as these pack a bit more punch than the Raspberry Pi.

If anyone has any experience, suggestions or ideas or has done this before on a single board device, let's share some ideas.
