Can Bluno work with Bluetooth module in android (Not blurtooth Gatt)

I have an android application whose main function is to get the data polling from hardware via Bluetooth and display that to the user. The Android code was working fine when connected with the Arduino board with the HC-05 Bluetooth module. But it is not working with Bluno-nano.
When I saw the code example for Bluno android communication, Bluetooth Gatt library is used in the Android code. Is the problem is because the Bluno board can be connected only via Bluetooth Gatt in android?
