Bluetooth Connection Keeps Dropping

Android 5.1.1 and at least Bluetooth 4.1 (can't find version in phone settings) on Galaxy S6. Devices pair and then drop after 30 seconds or so. Have tried resetting as per FAQs with same results. Phone pairs with other devices; vortex pairs with samsung tablet running Android.
Ideas?

It's very odd that your Vortex pairs with other devices but not your smartphone...
