If so what did I get for my money I already have a motor controller shield and an arduino uno. I thought this product provided blue tooth capability! Am I missing something?

There is no need other product when you want to communicate with the Romeo BLE via your andriod phone. You can refer to this link: Bluno Basic Demo and download the App to your phone, then you can establish connection between the Romeo and your phone. More details you can read the wiki. Wendy.Hu
