DFPlayer Mini MP3 Player -- read text files?

I love this module and the ease with which it allows me to play mp3 files. Is there an interface for reading text files off the same SD card where my mp3 files are stored? This would allow me to store metadata about the files and use that in my application.

If this is already available I'd love to know how. If not, I appreciate your consideration adding that to an upcoming code release. Thanks!
