FireBeetle - ESP32 v4.0: Use rechargable Li-ion and solar panels

we are planning to make a IoT system using the firebeetle ESP32 4.0 board. I've been through the documentation and the schematics but wanted to be sure if we can power the board as follows:
We have some solarpanels, which are in parallel and connected to the Vcc pin of the board. Besides, we have a Li-ion battery connected to J1. When we have enough sun, the board (usually in deep sleep and only waking up occasionally) is powered and we'd like to charge the battery, too. When the board needs more power than the solar panels provide, the battery should jump in and take over the powering.
So my question is now if this will work as we planned? Can the board be powered and the battery charged simultaneously by the solar panels? Can the battery take over if not enough power is provided by the solar panels?
