Are Arduino starter kits worth it?

Hey, i'm looking to get into Arduino, and have stumbled across these starter kits, you know, the ones that includes parts and instructions for 15 projects. But im starting to wonder if it would be easier and more instructive, to find instructions online and just buy the parts seperately for the build, and go from there? Anyone care to help me out?
