FlameWheel turns opposite of controller

I have the FlameWheel's motors wired as shown in the instructions: red wires outside jacks, black wires inside jacks. This causes the wheels to turn opposite of the direction chosen on the controller. For example, pressing the right button on the controller sends the FlameWheel left. It seems the simplest fix would be to change the wire locations where the black motor wires are on the outside and red wires on the inside.

Another approach would be to reload the program but, since it runs great as is (except for turning), I'd rather not reload the program. But I would like to know why it isn't running per instructions.
