Single stepping a script ?

I realize the uPyCraft IDE is in its infancy but as a recruit from the C world single stepping a program is my goto approach for development. There is a syntax checking feature but so far its not been useful for my coding efforts. I would really welcome a simple means of running a single line of code at a time so I can get feedback to check if I'm moving in the right direction. When working with untested hardware its a double edged sword since things can fail for both software and/or hardware reasons.
