DFR0107 Infrared Receiver Kit

Having trouble making this kit work. I uploaded the code on the wiki but all it gives me is "Error" whenever I press something on the provided remote. I changed output_verify and output_key to 1 and the serial monitor prints "Remote 7 verification code" when i press 7, it either hangs, gets an error or says key 0 not programmed. Could someone pls help me? I need a step by step process on how to get this to work
