Problems with Xbee USB adapter(FTDI ready)

I get random errors when I try to to upload a new firmware to a xbee module attached to the adapter (the xctu program asks for the reset button to be pressed) o sometimes does not even recognizes the module
(the module is not asleep)
If I use a xbee explorer adapter provided by sparkfun then everything is ok (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11812)
