When I connect my TF-Luna (ToF) Micro Single-point Ranging LiDAR (8m)
Item# SEN0340 to my arduino it works fine, when I connect my motors to adafruit motor shield and connect to a UNO it works fine, but when I connect my TF-Luna (ToF) Micro Single-point Ranging LiDAR (8m)

Maybe the Adafruit motor sheild took up some pins of the Arduino.

You can try to use the SoftSerial to connect to the SEN0340, avoid the pins used by motor sheild.
