Getting RS485 Shield V1.0 working with MEGA Arduino

Hi All,

I'm trying to read data from a 9 pin connector taking the data to the RS485 Shield and from there to the Arduino and read data from the Arduino through Serial. 

I also tried the Arduino code in the manual of the RS485 shield but it was not working. 

I'll be thankful for guiding me with the wiring (how to connect RS485 to Arduino) and the arduino code.
