Can I Use 6V 500MA Solar Panel for DFRobot Solar Power Management 5V?

Hi!

Is it safe to use a 6V 500 MA solar panel to power DFRobot Solar Management 5V and also charge 18650 battery via the solar management?

When I test the solar panel directly to the sun it generates more than 6V and more than 500 MA. The highest voltage I get is ~6.98 and the current is 2 ampere.

Please help me, because I'm still a newbie. Thanks.

Your solar panel is rated 6V 500mA, but you've measured ~2A short-circuit current  under full sun. That’s normal — short-circuit current is higher than the maximum power point current. The board will only draw what it needs, and has internal regulation and protection to prevent overcurrent.

So, it's safe to use even if the panel can produce more current than rated.

Hi , i have bought this  solar panel

is there any issue connecting it directly to the solar in ,while it provides 6 volt output ?

The maximum input voltage for the Solar Power Manager 5V is 6 V. If the input voltage exceeds 6 V ,it may damage the module.
