Hi everyone,
I have heating problems with my nema 23 stepper motor (https://www.oyostepper.com/category-7-b0-Nema-23-Stepper-Motor.html) and dm 556y driver. For z-axis I have a nema 23 with 1.26Nm 2.8A, driver dm 542y powered by 48v power supply with power settings sw 1,2,3,4: on - on - off - off. With this setup I have no heating problems.
And with a nema 23 with 3 Nm 4.2 A powered by dm556y driver with power settings sw 1,2,3,4: on - off - on - off I have overheating problems...
Can someone help me?

2024-12-11 23:27:30 The DM556Y is set to 4.2 A RMS, which matches the rated current of your 3 Nm motor. However, running stepper motors at their maximum rated current can cause significant heat buildup. Reduce the current setting on the DM556Y. A slightly lower current (e.g., 90% of the rated current) can significantly reduce heat while maintaining torque. userHeadPic lia.ifat
