New Romeo board

A couple of things.
1) I have connected it to my laptop via usb cable. Lights blink but Arduino IDE takes up to 5 minutes to open menus and a couple minutes to load files as small as "blink" . It has previously connected to a mega board I own.
2) There appears to no servo power jumper on the version of the board I got. I was hoping to use the board on usb connected but power the servos separately. Is a Version 1.0 board. What is the story? Is it safe to connect external servo power and not cause my laptop a problem?

2) The jumper has been replaced by an automatic voltage switch. Once you apply external power on the servo terminal. The servo power will be automatically switched to external power source. Better experience.
