2011-09-05 23:50:19 Hi Mstsi,

How are you providing power to the Arduino? Just through a standard USB port?

It is not enough power for the WiFi shield. You should try to provide additional power to the arduino either by plugging in a wall wart or using a usb power adapter.

Try that and see if it fixes your problem.

2011-09-03 22:13:40 Thanks for preparing the tutorial.  However I have run into a problem when I changed the wifi shield to client mode.  The browser is not able to access the wifi shield anymore after changing to the client mode.  The PING command from console did not get any response either.  The SYS led blinks at the speed around 3Hz.  The current drawn from the shield is about 600mA which is about the same as the AP mode.  I have to press reset button for 10 seconds to be able to access the shield again.  Disconnet the wires ethernet cable does not help.  Changing the jumpers' position did not solve the problem either.  Any suggestion on this issue?

2011-07-18 17:59:27 Hi Jon,

I'm not sure what the problem might be. I've never used the airport router... We have noticed that there is some compatibility issues with some routers. But the Wifi module works with most major brands, so I would imagine it should work with the Airport no problem. The only difference between DHCP and assigning your own IP address is when the router assigns a DHCP address you are can be sure there will be no conflicts of duplicate IP addresses. When you assign it an IP manually you run the risk of having duplicate IP addresses on the same network. Lets say your computers IP address is: 192.168.1.2, so you assign the WiFi shield 192.168.1.3, later a friend comes over and hooks up to your Wifi while the wifi shield was off, you then turn it on and chances are your friend is occupying the 192.168.1.3 IP address and now their is a conflict. But if you use a high enough IP address then there should be no problems with this kind of situation.

I hope this is clear?

2011-07-17 22:43:35 Wondering if its because the router is an apple product ( has issues with compatibility). ::) userHeadPic Jonczu
