GPS/GPRS/GSM Module V2.0

Can someone tell what can be the use of this new product: GPS/GPRS/GSM Module V2.0?
Can it replace a cell phone?
Do we need to get a sim card from a GSM provider?
Can it work with a blank SIM card?
Thanks!

1. It is possible to add antennas to this module. You will need the right pig-tail connectors for it. The shield already includes a GPS and GSM antennas, but you can unplug these and use others.
2. You may use the Netduino for this shield, but we do not provide sample code for the Netduino.
If you decide to use it with a Netduino, you may contribute the code and we will place it in the wiki.

2012-06-01 18:27:02 Hi Frogeraie,
You would need a SIM from a GSM provider. I don't believe it can completely replace a cellphone for voice calls, plus I'm sure the resulting phone would be very large for you to carry around.
Some of the applications is GPS tracking and SMS updates.
Another option would be to place a motion sensor on it and when a movement is detected it could send out an SMS message, I'm not sure if it can place proper voice calls. I will try to figure this out.
There are many applications for this shield, these are just some things I can think of off the top of my head. If anyone has more ideas please do tell!
