Xboard with IR.

hi,
i use xboard DFR0133 http://www.dfrobot.com/index.php?route=product/product&filter_name=xboard&product_id=494#.Unth4XBkMZ8 with InfraRed LED as describe at http://www.righto.com/2009/08/multi-protocol-infrared-remote-library.html
i connect the IR led to D3 on the xboard.
the receiver didn't get any signal from the transmitter (xboard+IR LED) when i tried to transmit a IR code.
is there any voltage issue here ? because the DFR0133 is based on arduino Fio, so the i/o level is about 3V.
any suggestions?
thanks.
