Give your projects machine vision with OpenMV Cam

DFRobot Feb 16 2015 295

I’ve been playing around with the CMUcam5 Pixy and it’s an amazing board capable of picking out coloured objects at high speed. Using it with a robotic platform is easy and we made a seeing robot(see above video) really quickly. OpenMV Cam is very similar but goes far and beyond in terms of features.

The next firmware release of Pixy will allow facial detection, meaning that it will be able to tell the difference between a face and a mug, as opposed to differentiating faces. OpenMV Cam is already there, along with video recording, time lapse photography and night vision.

But the features don’t stop there. The team are already developing Arduino-like shields to plug onto it, giving the board wifi capabilities, an LCD screen and a low resolution infrared shield which will unlock heat mapping functionality.

$50,000 is needed to start manufacturing the boards and they’re close to reaching their target. I suggest you back now if you want one.
