SIM7600 software power on

This might be a stupid question, but how can I power on the SIM7600 shield via software?
I know it has a button to boot it up, but I want to be able to power the shield via software.
On the wiki it said:
"Pin D12 has been connected to the SIM7600CE power switch. You can set the pin HIGH/LOW to turn the module ON/OFF in code."
So, that was what I tried. Using pin 12 to power it on/off.
I do still use an external power supply to power it.
Can you help me?
I tried setting pin 12 HIGH for 1 sec (just like when you press the button), I tried to leave it high for a long time.
If you can help me, that would be awesome!
