Ultrasonic Transducer - Water Resistant ?

If the transducers get wet will they work, be destroyed, etc. I can easily isolate the circuits themselves, I am just interested in the actual transducer's capability. If water will injure them, any ideas on a method to protect them without hurting their measuring capability too much ?
