I'm doing a project where I have to draw power from the outlet and I'm not sure how to prevent the arduino from burning, I thought about using a relay but I'm not sure if it works for that, thanks.

Yes, you can use an relay to control the arduino. However, if you use a dc power supply (9-12v), the arduino won't burn.
