SEN0546 and Raspberry pi pico

Is there a trick to get the SEN0546 sensor communicating with a raspberry pi pico? I keep getting OSError: [Errno 5] EIO error for temperature readout when using readfrom_mem or readfrom_mem_into. On a I2C scan the sensor replies with its address.
