DF0745 Standalone Operatoin

Hi I am trying to use a DF0745 voice recorder as a standalone device

I just want to load some files and everytime the play is triggered it plays a song and goes to the next one.

I can get this going with basic code on an arduino but as soon as I disconnect it it goes back to its factory settings

Is this possible to do without an Arduino permentantly connected?

Or have I purchased the wrong thing?
