Beginner-Friendly DIY Robot/RC Project Recommendations for Parent-Child Duo

I’m a software engineer with zero experience in DIY robotics or RC projects, but I’m eager to learn and start a fun project with my kid. We have a 3D printer and would love to leverage it to create components. Could you recommend a beginner-friendly project that’s also suitable for kids?
