Use schematic to build own board. Is this allowed?

I have question: Is it allowed to integrate the circuit of a DFRobot board (Gravity__Analog_Dissolved_Oxygen_Sensor) in an own PCB (with more own sensor circuits) for a project at university? It's not for commercial use in any way.
As I understand the DFRobot board is open source, the schematics are online at least. Is this correct?
To clearify: we want use the schematics to build our own PCB (with more functions), not use an actual DFRobot board.
If so are there some requirements?

DFRobot open-sources most of its hardware schematics, but some of its patent-pending product schematics are not developed.
In short, any schematic you can find on the DFRobot website can be used for your own projects (commercial or not)
You can also refer to the publicly available schematics to design your own products.
