When i use the WizSmartScript it gives me AT command error when looking for the device.
So I found the tutorial to using putty with it and AT+NSET command is invaild, so I can't set an IP.
I am very very confused and really want to get this wifi shield working. Please help me.

Could you please explain how you are connecting to the Wifi Shield? Do you use Putty? and RAW?
When you say it disconnects instantly when you unplug the USB, from what program does this happen?

I am supplying with a 9 volt battery on a clip. I was concerned it wasn't getting enough juice, so I used a mains 9 volt power supply to check and same result.
I didn't mean a list of AT commands, but all the current settings. I found the AT command to reset to factory.
As far as i can tell it should connect without the USB, and I don't understand why the USB is helping it connect (because the second i put the USB in it connects). Destined

When not connected via USB, how are you supplying power? You should at least be supplying 6Vdc or 7Vdc to the Arduino.

Are you using the same baud rate as the wifi shield? Once your wifi shield is working, try uploading a program to the Arduino where it repeatedly outputs a string "hello" will do. You could also make it wait for an input from you to light an LED to get visual confirmation that its receiving data. Through out all of this you should make sure you are using the same baud rate as the Wifi shield...

Currently if i hook it up and send it numbers I get jibberish like
