Thanks for following up. I visited my local hobby shop and procured a 7.4V NiMh 300 mAh battery and the Cherokey is flying!  Everything works great now.  I am just surprised that the included battery holder does not provide the needed juice to run a board along with the motors very robustly.

While I've got your attention, I also wanted to bounce something off of you.  The PWM input for speed control seems to be expecting a 5V signal.  Some of the boards I am using are 3.3v and they seem to work just fine.  Since it is a PWM signal, I am guessing it is looking at the cycle time more so than the voltage.  3.3V seems to be high enough for it to register High.  I have run it 3.3V direct and through a logic level shifter with identical results... thoughts?  3.3V good enough to drive the PWM inputs for speed control?
  • You Reply: I watched the video of the Ckerokey on the product page and I am not getting speeds like those shown in the video.  Can somebody tell me if the batteries need to be replaced with a 7.6v LIPO to get that kind of performance?  I am using the onboard motor controller to drive all 4 motors.  I have fed both PWM inputs with 5 volts directly and from my Netduino and SparkCore through a logic level converter.  It crawls and doesn't get enough juice to spin.  Anybody have success with this kit getting it to go fast like the video?
