dfr0494 (raspberry pi ups hat) - setup

Hello,

Trying to set up a personal home server, a headless raspberry pi 4b running ubuntu server, with everything it would need to basically act like a webserver.

All I want it to do is safely shut down at all times, and I need to be able to turn it off and on remotely.

As such, I have a dfr0494 (dfrobot ups hat) that I hooked up with this power supply, as well as this battery.

The hat seems to be powered up ok, nothing flickering or dull, haven't burned the house down. The only thing is that when I plugged it in, it drained the battery, and now the battery level is at a single blinking led on the meter. Do I need to do anything with it or is it functioning correctly?

Also, have gone through like 4 different smart plugs at this point, all needing a “hub” (of course after I get the thing from amazon). What are my options at this point (if I'm basically planning on using the setup itself as a “home hub”)?

Thanks a ton in advance

Hi

I have checked the WIKI of UPS HAT for Raspberry Pi 4B/3B+/3B(SKU:DFR0494). Here is the meaning of LED blinking.

It seems that your battery is out of power, could you please recharge it before using it?

Also, to use this hat, you have to open I2C channels on your Raspberrp Pi, see here how to do this.

Hope it can help.

How do I recharge it? Shouldn’t it just automatically recharge?

I think I may be doing something wrong with the power supply as well…does both the rpi and the hat need separate power supplies or does everything run off the hat supply? Anyways trying to recharge it right now, the charge light is on and the first led is blinking, I’ll let you know if it charges (it didn’t last time)…

When I first got the battery and plugged it in and fired up the hat it was at 2 solid leds, and the charge light was on and the battery level slowly dropped until it was at 1 blinking led and then after some time all the lights turned off…seems like I got the wrong battery

Effectively, I’ll be programming the thing with JavaScript via nodejs.

The links don't seem to work in the previous post, the power supply is at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07CVH21NC?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details and the battery is at https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00J2QET64?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details
