sen0211 example code

I would be very grateful if someone could point out where I am going wrong here:
I have bought the sen0211 current sensor and 20A/1v SCT013. I've compiled and uploaded the first example code that comes with this kit and the only output I am getting is 0.20. If I change the ACTectionrange to 50A or 100A this changes the output to 0.5 or 1. If I unplug the blue detector unit from the jack on the sensor there is a change in the readings which tells me the current sensor unit is talking to the Arduino but there's just nothing coming through from the detector regardless of it being clipped round a power cable or not.
Is there something in the code that needs to be altered or am I missing something physically?

2018-02-14 18:10:48 Are you clipping it around the full cable or a single wire within the cable? it needs to go around either the dfrobot or neutral but not both.
