Here is a log of an iOS device trying to connect to a Bluno that has been locked down using the AT commands unique and bind.

Please let me know if this is a flaw with the firmware, or if this is just iOS device issue. However I really need this to work with iOS devices, and preferably in the locked down mode / state. Any help would be appreciated.

  • You Reply: I was able to successfully pair to the Bluno today based on the MAC address of the device, and I think this issue in past was related to iOS 8.x as my iOS 9.0.2 device successfully paired to the Bluno based on MAC address of the iOS 9.0.2 device. Thanks for all the help.

    Hello,

    How r u?

May I knwo what's your question about the firmware?

    leff,

Hello, I'm doing well, thanks for asking. I am curious if the Bluno can work with an iOS device when the MAC address is bound to the Bluno using the appropriate AT commands. The reason I ask is because I have not had success pairing my iOS device (any iOS device for that matter) to a Bluno when I have bound a MAC address to the Bluno. The secure communications appears to work on Android mobile devices, but not with iOS. And yes I have tried several different versions on the Bluno firmware with no luck. I am hoping this bug can be worked out in a future firmware release.

Also, why isn't the firmware for the Bluno open source? Is there any particular reason for keeping the firmware closed source?
  • You Reply: For some reason the iOS device is unable to connect to the Bluno for the following reasons,

Mar 20 15:13:26 hank BTServer[130]: ATT Failed to set MTU to 158 with result BM3 STATUS 14
Mar 20 15:13:26 hank BTServer[130]: ATT Aborting command as device "UUID" is no longer connected

This is the log I pulled from the iOS device.
  • You Reply: So far I haven't had much luck with FW 1.8.4 either :'( Can you confirm the bind / unique commands work on your end with an iOS device?
  • You Reply: Sure I will give that firmware a try.
  • You Reply: Alan, I think the AT+PASSWORD is a feature that prevents other people from inputting AT command into the Bluno unless they have the password. Think of it as a security mechanism for entering AT commands to the device. However this has nothing to do with pairing to a device. ...at least that is how I understand it at the moment.

Alan, what device are you using? And specifically how is the AT+PASSWORD feature suppose to work?

Does anybody know how to force Bluno to need a passkey during the Bluetooth connection process to secure it?

    Thanks

Alan, did you make any progress with securing your BLE communications?
