You Reply: Hi all,
i not sure how to upload pictures here, here not allow me upload it. I'd tried the 12V/1A too, the LED of STAT and NET are unlit too. I really curious how it to be since I use the 9V/350mA?! My module is belong to 1/2/2013 batch, is the board too "old" causes it easier to be damaged. I'm so disappointed and sad about it. :-\
Is Drobot provided any check up service for that in worldwide? I just bought it last year in August....

You Reply: Hi,
May i ask why my V3 GPS/GPRS/GSM shield 's STAT and NET LED unlit (no respond) although there have power supply connect to them?? Previously, they work fine with my 9V/350mA power adapter. Today, it suddenly not work. I really worrying whether it get spoil due to overheat? Somehow the voltage regulator at the shield feel quite hot, but my power supply consider quite low copared to the forum recommended power amount.
Hope can hear your feedback soon. Urgently, I need it to rush my project.
Best regards,
jj

You Reply: Hi,
I see, thanks reply=)
Besides, I saw there have keypad driver on V3 GPS/GPRS/GSM shield, is a normal keypad can connect with it? Furthermore, I saw that have buzzer to indicate incoming call in V2 GPS/GPRS/GSM shield, is the V3 GPS/GPRS/GSM shield can have the same function? However, I tried called the inserted SIM card, that line was off.=(

You Reply: Hi Grey,
No, I do have external GPS antenna.
Yeap, I connected it with my PC when I testing GPS at outdoor too, so that can view the response of serial monitor.

Is so okay
,I had turned the switch to GPS side.
"How to drive the GPS Mode via USB port",
I have been switch to GPS.By follow the steps
1. Turn the S1 switch to the Prog(right side)
2. Turn the S2 switch to the USB side(left side)
3. Set the UART select switch to middle one.
4. Upload the sketch to the Arduino board(Make sure turn off other Serial monitor )
5. Turn the S1 switch to the comm(left side)
6. RST the board until the START led is on
1 Turn the UART switch to GSM side
2 Input 4 AT command
Send:AT
Send:AT+CGPSIPR=9600 (set the baud rate)
Send:AT+CGPSPWR=1 ?turn on GPS power supply?
Send:AT+CGPSRST=1 ?reset GPS in autonomy mode?
i tested at indoor, then when I walked outdoor (no so far away),
it shows me same results as indoor.:-\
I using a 9V panasonic battery for outdoor testing, it ran out fast. We must have a portable re-chargeable battery right?
Thanks reply.=)

You Reply: Hi all,
I faced the same problems as Charlie,I tested the shield based from the "How to drive the GPS Mode via Arduino board" from wiki.I copied the exactly codes form there, but in the end, it shows me as below where it stops when reach "UTC", I let the switch in middle between GPS and GSM , I interface it with Uno:

+CPIN: READY
+PACSP: 1

Hence, I go outdoor testing, I walked through the building, the GPS shield face the sky quite directly. but same result too. :-\
besides that, may I ask the meaning of 'drive the GPS Mode via Arduino board' means can disconnect it from USB? but i tried it, all operation stops. means, there is always need connect it with USB to laptop? cannot make it be portable? ???
For the "How to drive the GPS Mode via USB port", I thought only this connection method need connect with USB to laptop all the time. Am I right? but I walked outdoor,I walked through the building, the GPS shield face the sky quite directly. It show me same results as Indoor. Why ya? like

You Reply: hi Grey,
Yeap, I follow the instructions written in WIKI,
S1: Arduino
S2: COMM
Uart: Middle (it doesn't change)
But in the end, it did not show in receiver's mobile phone although I get the AT results like WIKI shown
Next, today I tried
// Product name: GPS/GPRS/GSM Module V3.0
// # Product SKU : TEL0051
// # Version : 0.1
// # Description:
// # The sketch for driving the gsm mode via the USB interface
// # Steps:
// # 1. Turn the S1 switch to the Prog(right side)
// # 2. Turn the S2 switch to the USB side(left side)
// # 3. Set the UART select switch to middle one.
// # 4. Upload the sketch to the Arduino board(Make sure turn off other Serial monitor )
// # 5. Turn the S1 switch to the comm(left side)
// # 6. RST the board
// # wiki link- https://www.dfrobot.com/wiki/index.php/G ... U:TEL0051)
void setup()
{
//Init the driver pins for GSM function
pinMode(3,OUTPUT);
pinMode(4,OUTPUT);
pinMode(5,OUTPUT);
//Output GSM Timing
digitalWrite(5,HIGH);
delay(1500);
digitalWrite(5,LOW);
}
void loop()
{
// Use these commands instead of the hardware switch 'UART select' in order to enable each mode
// If you want to use both GMS and GPS. enable the required one in your code and disable the other one for each access.
digitalWrite(3,LOW);//enable GSM TX?RX
digitalWrite(4,HIGH);//disable GPS TX?RX
}
I curious why it enables me send "one time message" to the receiver's phone, the second times fails forever. The serial monitor shows me this:
RDY
+CFUN: 1
+CPIN: READY
GPS Ready
Call Ready
AT
OK
ERROR
AT+CMGS="016652xxx93"
> SDSD.
+CMGS: 235
OK
AT+CMGS="0177xx8199"
> XIaaN.
ERROR
+CMTI: "SM",1
AT+CMGS="0166xx1093"
> SDS.
ERROR
hmm, is there any setting requires when send the second times of message to any receiver phone? Since i remains same setting as the 1st time. I tried most of brands simcard, they work same, one time success only. Second time, have to restart all the stuff just can send again.
i use 9V/350mA power adapter.
Thanks for replY.

You Reply: Hi all,
Thanks Grey. May I ask I had tried the code from https://www.dfrobot.com/wiki/index.php/G ... TEL0051%29
under section of
"How to drive the GSM Mode via Arduino board"
There have no response to the receiver although I get the output on Serial monitor as shown in Figure shown in the page there.
Moreover, when i tried the
"How to drive the GSM Mode via USB port"
It works fine as the receiver receive my message. What is the problem behind it? ???
Thanks for reply.

You Reply: Hi,
currently, I looking for any portable battery for supply GPS/GPRS/GSM shield+UNo+LCD. May I ask ask can anyone give me some suggestion? As the normal battery is insufficient since it give 9V battery that has only 300mAh.
I have few choices as below, can you guys tell me is they suitable for my project?
1) 11.1V 1200mAH 25C Lipo Battery
2) WLtoys V912 RC Heli Spare Part-20-2s 1000mAh Upgrade Lipo Battery (7.4V/1000mAh )
3) MJX F49 Spare Part-15-2S 7.4v 1500mah Lipo Battery
Last question, is there said the higher the voltage, the better the operation is has?
thanks for replys. Appreciated ^_^

You Reply: Hi all,
Thanks for reply.I can send the message to phone via the GPS/GPRS/GSM shield with inserted SIM card. I still using the 7.5V,350mA powers supply. However, from the 5-6 times trying, only 2 times success.I suspect should be the sim card line not good or what? :-\
next,since I want tested the shield's GPS fucntion at outsdoor. I require a portable power supply. May I ask is the portable battery of 9V sufficient to supply the combination of GPS/GPRS/GSM shield and Arduino Uno R3 apart from the recommended Lithium battery charger? If I want interface them with LCD as well, is 9V sufficient too?
Thanks for prompt reply.

You Reply: Hi,
I finally get the AT command on the Cool Term ;D. May I ask is the CoolTerm, HyperTerminal, Serial Monitor on Arduino are consider AT command testers?
However, I cannot really send a message to my friend's phone via the tutorial codes given in codes which given in WIKI. I took out my phone's SIM CARD and insert the slot, it should be fine since been activated and have credits too. But end up it shows me an error.
How to Send a message
Steps:
Send:AT
Send:AT+CMGF=1 (set the message to text format)
Send:AT+CMGS="XXXXX" (xxxx is the number of receiver )
After you see ‘>’ then type the message you want to send
press 'ctrl+z'(If you want to cancel, you can press ESC) Note that this step depends on the Serial software used and its configuration!
and even drive the GSM Mode via Arduino board also cannot send the message. It shows me
AT
AT
AT+CMGF=1
AT+CMGS="XXXXXX"
HELLO.
but my friend's phone still not receive my message yet. However, I manage to get a call to phone.
I used a power of 7.5V/350mA... All the STAT, NET and PWR leds works fine.
May I ask what is the problems actually? Thanks reply.
